Open House and More

Well the rocker was backordered and thought was shipped, but it is now on it's way (hopefully). I decided to share with you my open house "stuff" I did. I am so glad to get on here again, I thought the 1st week of school would never slow down and give me a chance. I am loving my students and to enlighten their little minds with lots a of new stuff and most of all, God's Word. Here is the first pic:

I went with the monsters theme again because our PT store had them all on clearance at the end of last year. I already had some so I picked up more for el cheapo prices! This pic shows my display on my back table. Now onto the next for up close and personal:

Yes, they are "Monsteriffic!" and I did have parents take more than one. Yay!
Next!:

Even though I knew I probably wouldn't get these, my tactics were for them to join the PTO so I can! For every parent that joins the PTO from my classroom, the PTO gives me $20 for my classroom! Whoop! Whoop! Next:

This is what I put on their desks. Thanks to pins from pinterest, I have my student treast, and my behavior system with a magnetic one for the parents to put on the fridge! (Thanks to cupcakesforateacher!) And as you can see the PTO info is handy! :)That is all my open house stuff, and it turned out great. Now I just want to share some other things I did in my classroom:

This is my updated art area! I took a cubby shelf I got from Family Dollar and used my zebra contact paper to make it more fun. Added the paper towel holder and a little organization and voila!

I had a floor chalkboard but because my room is on the small side I decided to put one on the wall. I bought it from Hobby Lobby and painted the wood frame red. The curtain held up by contact hooks have clothespins to be able to hold artwork. I can't wait to put up their artwork! Well, that's all for now, but I plan to be back sooner than later!

Getting Ready For School

I am so excited to have a blog. I am a K4 teacher and have read many other teacher's blogs and thought I would join in on the fun. Today I am going to share with you the new creations I have been making in my classroom. I redid the whole room just about. Here is the start to my new reading area:

I needed my cubby to be the divider and the back was el grosso! So I painted it, painted the owl and tree branch and then the black border.

Then I decided instead of painting the owl's belly I would jewel him!

I know the kids will love this so I also added them to the black border. I also added zebra contact paper to the top of cubby.

I also added a book rack also covering it with the zebra contact paper. I used fishing wire to secure the books but recently I changed it to school themed ribbon. My husband always tells me to keep things simple so I had to stop somewhere!
Now on to the next phase of my reading area:

I took a BIG mailing tube and paper mached it and painted it. I took some tree limbs from the tree outside my classroom and added them to the tube and painted them to match. I secured the top of the tree with fishing wire to the ceiling trim. I also had my own kids help paint the grass and the flowers at the bottom of the walls. They had a lot of fun and it brought in some more K4 character!

I added the wipe-able zebra pillows I sewed and the seat crates I made too.

Then I added the letters in the tree and the Dr. Seuss posters on the wall. Now all I am waiting for is my new rocker from scholastic. I will have to post that when it comes. Someday I will change the carpet but it will do for now. I have more that I have done but I will share that another day!
