Getting Ready For School

I am so excited to have a blog. I am a K4 teacher and have read many other teacher's blogs and thought I would join in on the fun. Today I am going to share with you the new creations I have been making in my classroom. I redid the whole room just about. Here is the start to my new reading area:

I needed my cubby to be the divider and the back was el grosso! So I painted it, painted the owl and tree branch and then the black border.

Then I decided instead of painting the owl's belly I would jewel him!

I know the kids will love this so I also added them to the black border. I also added zebra contact paper to the top of cubby.

I also added a book rack also covering it with the zebra contact paper. I used fishing wire to secure the books but recently I changed it to school themed ribbon. My husband always tells me to keep things simple so I had to stop somewhere!
Now on to the next phase of my reading area:

I took a BIG mailing tube and paper mached it and painted it. I took some tree limbs from the tree outside my classroom and added them to the tube and painted them to match. I secured the top of the tree with fishing wire to the ceiling trim. I also had my own kids help paint the grass and the flowers at the bottom of the walls. They had a lot of fun and it brought in some more K4 character!

I added the wipe-able zebra pillows I sewed and the seat crates I made too.

Then I added the letters in the tree and the Dr. Seuss posters on the wall. Now all I am waiting for is my new rocker from scholastic. I will have to post that when it comes. Someday I will change the carpet but it will do for now. I have more that I have done but I will share that another day!

  2. Thanks Sandra! That was the tube that also held up the main gate sign at the vbs entrance. I already had the plan for the tree for it and then it was also needed there. repurposed twice!
